The Victor Apartments
Frameless Glass Balustrade
UNEX Architectural Barriers worked closely with the client, Archi_ON and Waide Construction on The Victor development in Brown’s Bay, Auckland, to deliver the right solution.
It is the third time that UNEX has worked alongside Waide Construction, with the Chelsea Bay Apartments and Aria Bay being the other major developments, and this pre-existing relationship helped meant UNEX knew what was expected from their client to help things to run smoothly on The Victor project. It was a project that demonstrated the ability of UNEX to go above and beyond to find the right solutions. We worked closely with architects Anthony Lee, Young Ho and Judy Kang through nine iterations of the quote to get it just right and our engineering team went onsite to develop a site-specific PS1 to be sure it got approval by ACC.
UNEX delivered a total of 675m of frameless glass style Panorama balustrade (341m for around 14 external balconies across five levels and 335m on the internal atrium/areas) for the project. Each type area used either 12mm or 15mm thick monolithic glass with a lower profile rectangular rail, the company’s VRR style, which were connected at each end using wall plates. This style’s side-mounted channel was fixed to concrete on The Victor project. The channel and rail used on The Victor was given a powder coated finish in Duratech Matte Black to offer a striking and sleek aesthetic while simultaneously giving this balustrade style understated appeal.
